In this class, aimed at complete beginners, we will cut up a mixture of vintage and Kaffe Fassett fabrics and rework them into new designs. There will be no precision sewing though you will be taught how to use a cutting mat and rotary cutter. These tools make light work of age old techniques such as log cabin and crazy patchwork. We will be look to the quilts of Gees bend for inspiration and end up with finished pieces that can be made up into cushion covers, lavender bags, pot holders and pictures.

This workshop is really a creative play day where I open up my studio and its treasure trove of fabrics and machines for you to use! There is an extensive range of books for inspiration and tins full of beads and embellishments. We will explore techniques such as applique, patchwork and machine embroidery and work them together into “fabric recipes” that can be used for making projects or framed as Textile Art. Groups are small so if you are a complete beginner there will be plenty of help and guidance. I always try to ensure that everyone leaves with a finished piece, however you are welcome to commence a grand project while you are here!
